Coin Through Table

I stumbled upon this by accident. Assume the following situation: You just lapped a coin, but your audience still thinks you got the coin in your hand. Now pretend to push the coin through the center of the table with both hand, while releasing the coin from the lap, by tilting forwards. Your audience will hear the sound of the coin hitting the floor assuming it came from the coin just pushed through the table. Show your hands empty and finished.

Staying Light!

Imagine this effect: A match is lit and illuminates the face of the performer. Then the match is blown yet the illumination remains for a short while.

Method: D'light

Conspiracy

This is an idea that I had for a long time. What if the whole reason the magician does magic is not to make the audience wonder, but to have a platform to adress certain thoughts to the audience.

To tell them, that there is a conspiracy going on. And the goverment is just a small part in it. And a company who's name the magician does not dare to mention is making clones of certain people to replace the original people if they become an inconvenient individual who know too much.

Further the magician claimes that pretty much all the dentists in the country are in on that. And that all the restorations and braces are used to spy on us, sending radio signals to the mothership. Of course the magician still does funny tricks and the audience thinks that all of those conspiracy theories are just comedy.

The reason for all the efforts of that company remains somewhat mysterious but somehow has do to with a cult that worships the golden calf also known as the evil overlord.

All of that might be a nice frame for a magic show and it justifies the magicians to just do tricks.

Then at the end the magician exits the stage and a loud bang is heard. The magician reenters the stage (different costume) telling everyone to calm down. Nothing has happend, no shot was fired, no inconvenient individual, that knows too much has been replaced and all that has been said during the show was rubbish. All is well.

The New Source

Mentalism, the world of information. Here is another way to get information about a person. Google them! Chances are good, they are on facebook or myspace. Or they have been mentioned by someone who is on facebook or myspace. Often pictures are posted along the information, so you have plenty of stuff to work with. Do it right before the show, or let an assistant do it backstage.

Hear ye, Hear ye!

There won't be posts for a month. But this blog will continue. See ya in December!

Chaos

"The Chaos Theory says, that a minor difference in the starting conditions of two tests will result into a totally different outcome after only a short period of time. Let's put this theory to a test. I got three coins. And I am doing the same thing three times with just minor differences. Hopefully this will result in three totally different outcomes."

Three coins are on the table. A lighter and a poker chip are in your right pocket. Pick up the first coin with your right hand. Then transfer it into the left hand. Make it look like the false transfer you will use later. Show the right hand empty, go into your right pocket and get out the lighter. Light the light and move the flame around the left fist. Then put the lighter back in the right pocket and steal the poker chip into finger palm.

"There you go the natural result of the flame and the heat of my hand. A slightly warmer coin" as you deliver that (hopefully slightly funny) line you open the left hand and drop the coin on the table.

"Now let's do it with the second coin" pick up the second coin with the right hand. Do a Bobo Switch, so the poker chip ends up in the left hand. Show your right hand empty (Kaps subtlety) go into the right pocket ditching the coin and getting the lighter again. Move the flame around the left fist as before, but just a slight bit longer. Then put the lighter back in the pocket.

"I changed the condition just a bit. The flame was there a bit longer than before. Now the result should be different." Open the left hand and let the poker chip drop on the table.

"The last coin, just watch" pick up the third coin with the right hand and false transfer it to the left hand retaining it in finger palm of the right hand. Go into your right pocket ditching the coin (silently) and get the lighter one last time.
Turn on the lighter and move it towards the left fist. But withdraw the flame as soon as it touches the left fist. "That's enough" Put the lighter back in the pocket.

"OK, let's see what has happened" open the hand to reveal nothing.

There go. Nice premise, nice cancels of methods... you are often way ahead of the game and all you need you already own.

Shrinking Coin

Here is just another premise to make a coin vanish:

Show the coin in the right hand, then transfer into the left hand. Squeeze the left hand open it again and take the coin with your left hand. "See, the coin is now a millimeter smaller than before" This is repeated. "See, another millimeter... I know what you are thinking, and I agree Captain Picard is the better Captain of the Enterprise" then false transfer the coin to the left, squeeze again and when you open the hand again the coin is gone. "Seen shrunk even more. So far you cannot see it anymore."

Just a premise... but it makes a regular coin vanish seem a bit more important.
